OK, I’m not entirely sure what’s going on with this one. It’s legit (edit: maybe not) for sure, but I can’t guarantee the fact that it’s… erm… a leak. No official release date has been set, and there are reports that Greg is distributing this album himself, for free (although this is most likely untrue). Either way, files claiming to be Girl Talk’s new album, Feed The Animals, has popped up on P2P networks and popular torrent sites, and I wanted to let you know. Enjoy!
Leaked On: March 19th, 2008
Release Date: ?
SORRY! (Thanks to everyone who wrote in.)
Looks like we got excited and jumped the gun on this one! It is not Girl Talk. There is confirmation from Gregg on his Myspace that this is indeed not his music.
The artist who made the album is named Speaky, and had nothing to do with Girl Talk. It was incorrectly tagged and distributed under the label of Girl Talk. More details after the jump…
Dear Gregg,
My name is Sam and I’m an accounting major at West Chester University
of Pennsylvania and I’m writing on behalf of my friends and I. As you
have heard, there was a rumored leak of your upcoming album in many
music sharing communities. I’m a little embarrassed to say that my
friends and I are the ones responsible. I just discovered your music
over the summer and I was instantly inspired to try to make my own,
and have been doing so ever since under the stage name, Speaky. We had
originally posted my cd in a forum under the correct name, but one of
our friends retagged the tracks with bogus names and the Girl Talk
artist tag. It was originally shared between only a few people on a
small, closed gaming/off-topic forum through a Yousendit link. However
sometime yesterday evening it was uploaded to various Bit Torrent
communities where it quickly spread (the original Yousendit was
uploaded at 7pm on Wed). What was released under your name was
actually my second album called Mashcore Volume 2. This morning 400
Girl Talk fans had downloaded the fake from
Mininova.
org alone. I wanted to assure you that our intentions were neither
malicious nor did we want to disrupt your work in any way. What
started as a joke between 3 people spiraled out of control in less
than 24 hours and we are sincerely sorry. We are all huge fans of ours
and wouldn’t want to do anything to dick you over and I hope you
understand and accept our apology. Lastly, we would love for you to
write a response to this message, and perhaps there’s something we
could do to help clear up all of the confusion that we caused. Good
luck on the release of your new album and I can’t wait to hear it.
One of your biggest fans,
Sam (aka Speaky)
P.S. My friend from the forum this all started on will be at the
Rochester show on Saturday if you want to talk about it. Judging by
the amount of coverage this is getting on blogs this morning, we
thought that we should give you a face to face explanation of it. If
there is anything we can do to avoid your wishing death upon us,
please let us know as soon as possible.
Such a fake! HA! THIS IS NOT REAL AT ALL.
This is so far from real.
Gregg already said on a Myspace bulletin and blog. It doesn’t sound anyting like him.
Thanks guys. Sorry for misreporting this, but it sounded close enough to Girl Talk to warrant a post.
Way to get your own musical creativity out Sam.. kid out smarted you all, you all dl-ed that cd and listened to it whether you wanted to or not.

I am a personal friend of Speaky’s, I hope that in light of the confusion you all check out his stuff and continue listening to Girl Talk… both are amazing!!
i’ll speak on behalf of speaky, one of my best friends, he didnt mean to piss GT off in any way. he had no idea it would have exploded the way it did.
but im glad it did - its funny as shit
Sorry but this is much, much worse than Girl Talk. I was really disappointed when I thought it was a legit leak.
i really like this!!!
what a pussy email.
I actually really like this “fake” it’s pretty damn good. I’m impressed
I also really enjoyed listening to the “fake” new girl talk album. If anything, I’m glad to discover someone else mashing up artists so well like girl talk. I love 2pac changes over the graduation song. So are the track names incorrect for Speaky’s album?
Speaky seems very familiar to Girl Talk. The sound quality sounds worse on his Myspace then Gillis’s. Actually there is a definite difference between their styles. Speaky sounds more like old school rave breaks. Kind of. I like Girl Talk’s style better. Better samples used.
That was a nice letter he wrote. Sounds genuinly sorry.
Anyways, I just reviewed Feed the Animals at my blog Noosic. Its a long and in depth. Check it out at:
